ScaleZ Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 27, 2026

ScaleZ is a macOS app that turns your typing rhythm into music. This policy explains what ScaleZ does with keyboard activity, audio settings, recording data, and exported MIDI files.

Summary

ScaleZ processes typing activity locally on your Mac to generate music. ScaleZ does not upload your typed text, does not sell personal data, and does not track you across apps or websites.

Who We Are

ScaleZ is provided by So Good, Ltd.

Support and privacy questions can be sent through the So Good Co contact page: https://www.sogoodltd.co/contact

What ScaleZ Processes

ScaleZ may process the following information locally on your Mac:

- Keyboard activity, including key timing and typed characters, to turn typing into musical notes.

- Musical settings such as genre, vibe, key, scale, instrument, texture, assist level, bass settings, and volume.

- Flow-session metrics such as typing pulse, session duration, keystroke count, word count, peak flow level, and reward/bloom state.

- Recording data made of generated musical note events, timing, roles, instruments, and MIDI export information.

- Local debug information used to troubleshoot audio startup and playback reliability.

What ScaleZ Does Not Do

ScaleZ does not:

- Upload typed text to our servers.

- Sell personal data.

- Use third-party advertising trackers.

- Read passwords intentionally.

- Type, paste, or inject text into other apps.

- Record microphone input.

- Store your typed text inside exported MIDI files.

Input Monitoring

To make music while you type in other apps, ScaleZ uses macOS Input Monitoring permission. This lets ScaleZ listen to keyboard events system-wide.

ScaleZ uses this permission to detect typing rhythm and derive musical events. The app uses a listen-only keyboard monitor. It does not control your keyboard, type for you, paste into other apps, or change what you write.

You can enable or disable Input Monitoring for ScaleZ in macOS System Settings under

Privacy & Security.

Local Recordings And MIDI Export

When recording is enabled, ScaleZ records the musical performance generated by the app. Exports are saved as MIDI files on your Mac.

MIDI exports contain musical notes, timing, tracks, and instrument/program information. They are not intended to contain readable typed text.

Data Collection

The current ScaleZ app is designed to process data locally on device. It does not include account login, cloud sync, analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or network upload of user typing data.

If future versions add optional accounts, cloud features, crash reporting, analytics, or AI services, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosures must be updated before release.

Data Sharing

ScaleZ does not share your typed text, keyboard activity, musical sessions, or exported MIDI files with So Good, Ltd. or third parties unless you choose to send files or support information yourself.

Children

ScaleZ is not designed as a children's app and is not submitted as a Made for Kids app.

Security

ScaleZ keeps its processing local to your Mac. You are responsible for where you save and share exported MIDI files.

Your Choices

You can:

- Turn sound on or off inside ScaleZ.

- Disable Input Monitoring in macOS System Settings.

- Delete exported MIDI files from your Mac.

- Delete the app and its local settings from your Mac.

Changes To This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as ScaleZ evolves. If the app's data practices change, the policy and App Store privacy disclosures should be updated before the new version is submitted.
